Περιγραφή: The history of cities is one of the main directions of the national historical science. The scientific novelty of the study is determined by the urbanization transition of Russian society in the Soviet period of history. The rural population that prevailed in Russia before the 1917 revolution was replaced by the urban population. This led to close attention to the system of city administration and city self–government, the content of the activities of self-government bodies in cities city councils and their executive committees, the content of their work, including retail trade and catering. The relevance of the topic is determined by the continuation of the implementation of local self-government reform in the Russian Federation. A distinctive feature of urban self-government is the provision of vital activity, improvement of the quality of life of the population, acute problems of supply to the urban population.
История городов является одним из магистральных направлений отечественной исторической науки. Научная новизна исследования определена урбанизационным переходом российского общества в советский период истории. Сельское население, преобладавшее в России до революции 1917 года, сменилось городским населением. Это обусловило пристальное внимание к системе городского управления и городского самоуправления, содержанию деятельности органов самоуправления в городах – городским советам и их исполнительным комитетам, содержанию их работы, в том числе вопросам розничной торговли и общественного питания. Актуальность темы определяется продолжением осуществления в Российской Федерации реформы местного самоуправления. Отличительной особенностью городского самоуправления является обеспечение жизнедеятельности, повышение качества жизни населения, остро стоящими проблемами снабжения городского населения.
