| Description: | В статье анализируется научное наследие выдающегося русского и американского ученого М.И. Ростовцева, известного своей интерпретацией социально-экономичес-кой истории античного мира, а также одного из его учеников – Кларка Хопкинса. Их труды, посвященные проблеме происхождения ряда религиозных культов в древней Пальмире, рассматриваются в тесной связи с вопросом о теоретико-методо-логических основаниях научной школы Ростовцева, созданной им в США. Автор приходит к выводу, что фундаментом интеллектуального творчества этой группы историков послужила существенно модифицированная ими теория диффузионизма. In the article the scholarly heritage of the distinguished Russian and American historian M.I. Rostovtzeff, widely known for his interpretation of the social and economic history of the ancient world, is analyzed from the historiographic viewpoint, as well as that of one of his students – Clark Hopkins. The author examines their works, dedicated to the problem of the origins of religious cults in ancient Palmyra, in a close connection with the question of the theoretical and methodological basis of the scientific school M.I. Rostovtzeff had founded in the USA. The conclusion is that the intellectual foundation of this scholarly group was the diffusionism theory majorly modified by its representatives. |
