Description:	This article studies the issue of the scientific activities of Tashtemir Eldarkhanov. It is emphasized that he was not only a famous educator, political and statesman, but also engaged in scientific activities. The subject of the research is the works of T. Eldarkhanov: “The Chechen alphabet and the first book to read”, as well as his pre-revolutionary records, translations and publications of texts of Chechen folklore. An excursion to the first Chechen primer Kedi Dosov of 1862 is made in the work. The interrelation of these primers, compiled on the basis of Russian graphics of the outstanding Caucasian historian P.K. Uslara. В данной статье изучается вопрос о научной деятельности Таштемира Эльдарханова. Подчеркивается, что он был не только известным просветителем, политическим и государственным деятелем, но и занимался научной деятельностью. Предметом исследования являются труды Т. Эльдарханова: «Чеченская азбука и первая книга для чтения», а также его дореволюционные записи, переводы и публикации текстов чеченского фольклора. В работе сделан экскурс к первому чеченскому букварю Кеди Досова 1862 года. Прослеживается взаимосвязь этих букварей, составленных на основе русской графики выдающегося кавказоведа П.К. Услара.
