Περιγραφή: The article is devoted to the study of the history of the betrothal of the daughter of Emperor Heraclius (610–641), Augusta Epiphania (Eudokia), and the Turkic Qaghan, as well as the journey of Augusta Epiphania to the Turks, which are described by Patriarch Nikephoros in the «Short History». The author analyzes the message of Nikephoros, compares this message with the information of Theophanes, Movses Kagankatvatsi (Daskhurantsi), Sumbat Davitis-dzeh, Chinese chronicles of the Tang era and late Syrian historians. The author criticizes the concept of Paul Speck, who rejected the authenticity of the history of the betrothal of Epiphania with the «Turk», as well as the hypothesis of Etienne de la Vassiere, who believed that the groom of Augusta Epiphania was the Qaghan of the Western Turks Sipi. The author comes to the conclusion that the story of the betrothal of Augusta Epiphania with the «Turk» in 627, as well as the Epiphania’s itinerary, the journey of Heraclius’ daughter to the East in 629/630 are historical facts. The author reconstructs the journey of Augusta Epiphania to the Turks and hypothesizes about the visit of the Roman Augusta to the Afrasiab Palace in Samarkand. The author identifies the Turkic groom of Augusta Epiphania and comes to the conclusion that he was the ruler of the eastern Turks, Illig Qaghan, who was defeated in the struggle against the Tang Empire in 630.
Статья посвящена исследованию истории обручения дочери императора Ираклия (610–641), Августы Епифании (Евдокии), и тюркского кагана, а также путешествия Августы Епифании к тюркам, которые описаны патриархом Никифором в «Краткой Истории». Автор анализирует сообщение Никифора, сопоставляет это сообщение с информацией Феофана, Мовсеса Каганкатваци (Дасхуранци), Сумбата Давитис-дзе, китайских хроник эпохи Тан и поздних сирийских историков. Автор подвергает критике концепцию Пауля Шпека, отвергавшего достоверность истории обручения Епифании с «Тюрком», а также гипотезу Этьена де ля Вассьера, который полагал, что женихом Августы Епифании был каган западных тюрков Сипи. Автор приходит к выводу о том, что история обручения Августы Епифании с «Тюрком» в 627 г., а также итинерарий Епифании, путешествие дочери Ираклия на Восток в 629/630 гг. являются историческими фактами. Автор реконструирует путешествие Августы Епифании к тюркам и высказывает гипотезу о посещении римской Августой дворца Афрасияба в Самарканде. Идентифицируя тюркского жениха Августы Епифании, автор приходит к выводу, что им был правитель восточных тюрков Иллиг Каган, потерпевший поражение в борьбе против Империи Тан в 630 г.
