Description: Theoretical and practical aspects of improving the teaching methodology in training students for elementary and sport swimming are described. At the Department of Sports Games of the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, the authors of this article developed a breathing technique that insures the beginner from involuntary inhalation at the contact of the face with water. The author's position is that the students of the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports during the general course of swimming, using the breathing method developed by the authors, could freely overcome one of the sports ways (usually breaststroke) distance of 1000 m at the 13th, 16th, 18th classes of the 1st year of study.
Описываются теоретические и практические аспекты совершенствования методики обучения при подготовке студентов к начальному и спортивному плаванию. На кафедре спортивных игр института физической культуры и спорта авторами этой статьи была разработана техника дыхания, которая страхует новичка от непроизвольного вдоха при контакте лица с водой. Авторская позиция состоит в том, что студенты института физической культуры и спорта при прохождении общего курса плавания, пользуясь разработанным авторами методом дыхания, могли свободно преодолевать одним из спортивных способов (как правило, брассом) дистанцию в 1000 м на 13, 16, 18-м занятиях 1-го года обучения.
