В статье предпринимается попытка рассмотреть фигуры римских мудрецов в их значимости для римской общественной и частной морали. Как предмет для сопоставления выбираются ветхозаветные пророки. Автор обнаруживает моменты возможного сопоставления и принципиальные отличия в понимании предмета морального урока. В первом, римском случае, таким предметом является римский народ в плане его гражданственности и государственности; во втором — народ Израиля в плане выполнения им Завета с Богом The article attempts to examine the figures of the Roman sages in their significance for Roman public and private morality. As an object for comparison, the Old Testament prophets are chosen. The author discovers the moments of possible comparison and the principal differences in understanding the subject of the moral lesson. In the first, Roman, case is the Roman people in terms of its citizenship and statehood. In the second — the people of Israel in terms of fulfilling the Covenant with God |
