Περιγραφή: The article examines the history of lexemes аглинский, аглицкий, английский and other adjectives with this meaning. For the first time, specific cases of the use of these formations in book and business monuments of the 17th century are cited and conclusions are drawn about their distribution depending on the source register. On the material of texts, dictionaries and grammars of the 18th – 19th centuries, the process of displacement of all formations by the word английский is traced.
В статье рассмотрена история лексем аглинский, аглицкий, английский и других прилагательных с данным значением. Впервые приводятся конкретные случаи употребления указанных образований в книжных и деловых памятниках XVII в. и делаются выводы об их дистрибуции в зависимости от регистра источника. На материале текстов, словарей и грамматик XVIII–XIX вв. прослеживается процесс вытеснения всех образований словом английский
