Description: The first Russian translation one of the most important and interesting chapters of the work «Trialogus», written by the English theologian John Wycliffe (1320-1384) is proposed. In this chapter, the Oxford theologian explains his interpretation of the term ‘Holy Scripture’, equating this concept with ‘Christ's law’. Scrupulously investigating the semantic meaning of the term, the author of the «Trialogus» writes about the fallacies of many scholars who assert that the Holy Scriptures are unreliable in many parts. The Christian philosopher Aurelius Augustine was an indisputable authority for the English thinker in the questions of studying the Scriptures. Agreeing with Blessed Augustine that the whole truth is contained in the Scripture, Wycliffe anticipated one of the most important theological doctrines of the reformers of the 16-th century Sola Scriptura.
Предлагается первый русский перевод одной из наиболее важных и интересных глав сочинения «Триалог», написанного английским теологом Джоном Виклифом (1320-1384). В этой главе оксфордский богослов излагает свою трактовку термина «Священное Писание», отождествляя это понятие с «Христовым законом». Скрупулезно исследуя смысловое значение термина, автор «Триалога» пишет о заблуждениях многих ученых-схоластов, утверждающих, что Священное Писание во многих частях недостоверно. Несомненным авторитетом для английского мыслителя в вопросах изучения Писания являлся христианский философ Аврелий Августин. Соглашаясь с Блаженным Августином в том, что вся истина заключена в Писании, Виклиф предвосхитил одну их главнейших теологических доктрин реформаторов XVI века – Sola Scriptura.
