This paper explores the implementation and evaluation of RINA (Recursive InterNetwork Architecture) in an experimental network scenario, to overcome the inherent limitations of the traditional TCP/IP architecture. It focuses on the need to adapt network infrastructures to today's demands for efficiency, security and Quality of Service (QoS) management. In this context, the project applied the theory demonstrated in ERASER (Experimenting with Real Application-specific QoS Guarantees in a Large-scale RINA Demonstrator) in a controlled environment to evaluate its performance under realistic traffic conditions. Through the implementation of advanced QoS policies, such as the Quantitative Timeliness Agreement Multiplexor (QTA-Mux). The work highlights the technical feasibility of RINA to redefine communication practices in networks. However, technical challenges and difficulties were identified that require future research to optimise the implementation of RINA in larger and more complex network environments. This study suggests that future research should focus on improving RINA configuration and management tools, updating supporting documentation, and developing more robust methods for debugging errors.
