Περιγραφή: Emerging technologies have impacted the ways in which public libraries exist. From e-books, to 3D printing, and everything in between, gone are the times when libraries housed just books. And now with AI landing on the scene, public librarians are watching to see just how the new technology will change the library world again. While AI programs such as ChatGPT have made their impact obvious for some institutions, such as universities and academic writing, it is less obvious for how they may work in a public library space. Often times, when the conversation of AI and libraries comes up, it is centred around a user-end dialogue – how will patrons use AI in the library; how will AI change the patron experience? However, this project will examine how AI, ChatGPT in particular, may be used by librarians behind the scenes to create three core library programs: storytimes, children's STEM programming, adult book clubs. Research question: Can current iterations of AI be used effectively to create a realistic library program?
