The article looks at developments in the U.S. mutual funds industry as of March 1, 1969. Particular focus is given to the bear market in insurance stocks that lasted from April 1964 to April 1968 and the stock performance of specialty Insurance Securities Trust fund, managed by Insurance Securities Inc. The role of Insurance Securities Trust executive Robert Brown in diversifying the fund's portfolio and in the numerous takeovers of insurance companies in 1968 is also discussed. |
