| Abstract: | The article discusses a study in the Rockies financed by the U.S. Army Medical Research & Development Command on the effects of transporting the human body suddenly from low altitude to high altitude. It was found that high altitudes require a different kind of training that puts an emphasis on the efficient use of oxygen by the body. Study findings indicate the need to set higher standards of physical fitness for soldiers to be sent into high altitude combat. |
