Abstract (English): Plastic surgery encompasses reconstructive and aesthetic procedures aimed at improving both bodily function and appearance. In Venezuela, the practice of this specialty occurs within a sociocultural context marked by high demand for aesthetic interventions, which has generated various ethical dilemmas in professional practice. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the main bioethical aspects of plastic surgery practice in Venezuela from the perspective of deliberative and principle-based bioethics. A narrative review with a reflective approach was conducted, based on an analysis of scientific literature using critical reading techniques, grounded in deliberative bioethics and the principles of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice. The analysis identified ethical dilemmas related to the indication for aesthetic procedures, sociocultural pressure from certain beauty ideals, abuses in medical advertising, informed consent, and professional encroachment, revealing risks associated with the commodification of medical practice and the generation of unrealistic expectations among patients. It is concluded that the ethically responsible practice of plastic surgery requires deliberative processes that guide clinical decision-making, integrating technical competence with respect for human dignity and the patient’s overall wellbeing. Strengthening bioethics training and professional regulatory mechanisms is fundamental to promoting safe and ethical medical practice in the country. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
