Abstract: The rapid digital transformation in emerging markets has fundamentally reshaped consumer financial behaviour, positioning e-wallets as a key instrument for advancing financial inclusion and promoting cashless economies. Despite their transformative potential, e-wallet adoption in these regions remains constrained by socio-economic, technological, and behavioural barriers. Hence, this study investigates the determinants influencing users’ intentions to adopt e-wallets in emerging markets, with Bangladesh serving as the empirical context. A quantitative approach was employed using purposive sampling, yielding 356 valid responses from four major districts of Bangladesh. To ensure analytical robustness, a multistage technique was applied by integrating Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) with Artificial Neural Network (ANN) analysis. The PLS-SEM results confirmed that most hypothesized relationships were statistically significant, emphasizing the roles of technology characteristics, task-technology fit, and perceived usefulness in shaping adoption intentions. ANN analysis further validated these findings by highlighting the relative importance of key predictors. Notably, perceived usefulness emerged as the most influential factor driving users’ intention to adopt e-wallets. The novelty of this study lies in three aspects. First, it advances understanding of e-wallet adoption by integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Task-Technology Fit (TTF) into a unified framework that captures both technological and psychological dimensions. Second, it applies a dual-stage analytical approach (PLS-SEM and ANN) to strengthen result reliability and predictive accuracy. Third, it provides actionable insights for policymakers and service providers to design more inclusive and user-centred digital payment solutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
