| Abstract: | This research was conducted to determine the effect of temperature 90℃, time 60 minutes), and leaching reagents are citric acid and monosodium glutamate (MSG) on percent recovery, phase structure, and morphology rare earth metals of neodymium magnets. The stages of this research consisted of material preparation, neodymium magnet leaching, and characterization. The leaching filtrate was characterized by ICP-OES, while the leaching residue was characterized by XRD. The results of leaching of neodymium magnets using citric acid reagent had the highest REE recovery values around 60-90 %, while leaching using monosodium glutamate (MSG) the REE recovery values is around 1 – 2 %. XRD characterization showed that the dominant phases formed in each sample were iron neodymium boride and hematite. The results of this study stated that leaching with citric acid reagent obtained a rare earth metal recovery of 60-90 %, while leaching with monosodium glutamate (MSG) reagent obtained a rare earth metal recovery of less than 10 %.
