Abstract (English): The article addresses the importance of case for the interpretation of semantic roles in grammar instruction at the secondary level (7th–8th grade). At the center is the verb as the "core of a staging," which, through its valency, determines how many and which co-players (sentence constituents) are needed, each of which assumes semantic roles such as agent (doer), patient (affected entity), or recipient. The teaching sequence gradually leads learners from the identification of complete sentences through the assignment of semantic roles based on case to the analysis of different readings of verbs, with case serving as a crucial clue to the meaning and function of the sentence constituents. A didactic model is presented that, in particular through the use of "someone-accusative and someone-dative ships," makes case inflection and sentence structure tangible and promotes language-reflective insights. Additionally, reference is made to the Electronic Valency Dictionary of German Verbs (E-VALBU), which systematically presents different verb readings. [Extracted from the article]
Abstract (German): Der Artikel behandelt die Bedeutung von Kasus für die Interpretation semantischer Rollen im Grammatikunterricht der Sekundarstufe (7.–8. Schuljahr). [Extracted from the article]
