Περίληψη: We study the problem of optical reconstruction of the images of objects with the use of the displayed quantized computer-generated holograms in a high-speed digital micromirror light modulator. The operation of quantization of light distributions is extensively used in the problems of data storage, transmission, processing, and compression. To determine the most universal method of hologram quantization, we investigated four iterative and four noniterative quantization methods, as well as two methods previously proposed by the authors of the present paper and based on the noniterative analysis of the intensity-distribution histogram. For the indicated quantization methods, we analyzed the speed of processing (quantization) and the quality of images optically reconstructed with the help of computer-generated holograms. The holograms were displayed in a digital micromirror light modulator, and the images of objects were reconstructed in the laser light. The quality of reconstruction was evaluated with the help of the quality metrics, such as the structural similarity index, correlation coefficient, and speckle contrast. It is shown that, among all considered quantization methods, the quality of the images reconstructed by the histogram methods is higher than the quality of the images obtained by the noniterative methods by 19% and than the quality of the images reconstructed by using the resource-intensive iterative methods by 15% (according to the quality metrics). At the same time, the rate of quantization of the holograms by the developed histogram methods is higher than the rate of iterative methods by an order of magnitude. The joint analysis of the relative intensity and the indicated quality metrics was carried out by evaluating the target function. The computed value of the target function for the histogram methods is greater than its values for the noniterative and iterative methods by 5 and 2%, respectively. The accumulated results demonstrate advantages of the histogram methods (high quality of quantization and a short time of image processing) over the considered quantization methods in the problem of image reconstruction from binary holograms. Based on this fact, we can recommend to use the proposed histogram quantization methods for the optical reconstruction of volume scenes, compression of the holographic data, and high-speed modulation of the light fields.
