Περίληψη: The final step in the cleaning process of osseus materials in mammal collections is crucial for the proper long-term preservation and utility of the materials for research or exhibition. This step includes the elimination of tissue debris, remains of dermestid beetles or fat. Available techniques include soaking in ammonium hydroxide or enzymes, or cleaning using pressurized air. These techniques, however, can be damaging for the environment or require specialized infrastructure not available in many collections, especially in developing countries. We present a technique based on the use of an inexpensive household cleaning product available in many countries, which does not require specialized or expensive facilities and which is environmentally friendly.
