Περίληψη: Urease activity in the soil and its kinetic parameters (Vmax and Km) were greatly influenced by the addition of pesticide amendments to the soil. The average soil urease activity was low when soils were treated with pesticides (35.21 µg NH4/g dry soil/h) than non-pesticide applied soils (36.07 µg NH4/g dry soil/h). The kinetic parameters (Vmax, Km, and Vmax/Km) recorded for urease enzyme in the untreated soils showed higher Vmax (34.48 mM/h) and lower Km (14 mM) as compared to the soils applied with pesticides (33.33 mM/h and Km 15 mM). The current investigation in examined sites of the eastern plain of Uttar Pradesh in chilli rhizosphere revealed that the non-pesticide-treated soils had 2.4% higher soil urease activity than the pesticide-applied soils, which signifies the release of ammonium that may enhance the nutrient availability.
