Περίληψη: The article focuses on work reorganization and workforce development to get productivity back to normal levels in postwar United States. Three lessons from World War II include: peacetime managers should anticipate problems and not act by expediency; and work should be reorganized and employees properly trained for the specific job. Liberalizing worker compensation to recruit and retain workers, softening production standards and control devices, or finding creative solutions to a wage freeze in wartime conditions have consequences in peacetime economies. Topics include the management tools for production level problems: Training Within Industry, Methods-Time-Measurement technique, and films from the Society for Advancement of Management.
