| Abstract (English): | The present study aims to evaluate the concepts of the individual and society within a philosophical and intellectual framework. It focuses on Ottoman-Turkish thinkers during the period spanning from the Second Constitutional Era to the Early Republican Era. The present research focuses on the works of Ziya Gökalp (d. 1924) and Nurettin Topçu (d. 1975), with the objective of demonstrating how these thinkers utilised these concepts to articulate the intellectual and social challenges of their era, as opposed to seeking to establish definitional precision. Despite the thinkers utilising a variety of terms such as "fert/kişi" (individual) and "cemiyet/cemaat" (society/community) within the confines of their respective terminological contexts, this study employs the terms "individual" and "society" in order to maintain terminological consistency and coherence. The overarching objective of this research is to facilitate a discussion of these concepts from a philosophical perspective, as opposed to a historical or political vantage point. In this regard, a theoretical framework is constructed through the metaphysical-philosophical discourses of these thinkers, concluding that they utilised these concepts as vehicles to express the intellectual landscape of the period rather than merely producing formal definitions. | Abstract (Turkish): | Bu çalışma, II. Meşrutiyet’ten Erken Cumhuriyet dönemine uzanan süreçte birey ve toplum kavramlarını Osmanlı-Türk düşünürleri üzerinden felsefi-düşünsel bir düzlemde değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın merkezinde Ziya Gökalp (ö. 1924) ve Nurettin Topçu (ö. 1975) yer almaktadır. İnceleme, düşünürlerin birey ve toplum kavramlarına tanımsal bir kesinlik kazandırma çabasından ziyade, bu kavramları dönemin entelektüel ve toplumsal meselelerini ifade etmek üzere nasıl araçsallaştırdıklarını göstermeyi hedeflemektedir. Düşünürlerin kavramlara fikri yetkinlikleri ve terminolojileri üzerinden yaklaşmaları sebebiyle, kendi çalışmalarında fert/kişi ile cemiyet, cemaat gibi farklı terimlerle karşılaşılmaktadır. Ancak anlam bütünlüğünü koruyabilmek ve tutarlılık adına, bu çalışmada "birey" ve "toplum" kavramlarının kullanımı tercih edilmiştir. Nihayetinde, bu araştırma birey ve toplum kavramlarını tarihsel ya da siyasal bağlamlardan daha çok, felsefi bir zeminde tartışma arzusuyla şekillenmiştir. Bu doğrultuda, özellikle Osmanlı-Türk düşünürlerinin metafizik-felsefi boyutlar taşıyan söylemleri üzerinden teorik bir yapı inşa etmeye çalışılmış ve bir tanım ve/ya sınıflandırma üretmekten ziyade dönemin düşünsel anlayışını ifade ederken bu kavramları kullandıkları tespit edilmiştir.
