| Περίληψη: | Relational responding can emerge following simple-discrimination training, without the explicit conditional discrimination components programmed in commonly used procedures such as simultaneous matching-to-sample (S-MTS) or go/no-go matching with compound stimuli (GNG-compound). Findings from this research inform debates regarding whether functional and equivalence classes represent distinct or overlapping behavioral processes. The present study aimed to contribute to this literature through a systematic replication evaluating whether generalized functional and equivalence classes can emerge following simple successive discrimination training in typically developing adults. A single-subject design was used to train and test the formation, generalization, and emergence of functional and equivalence classes in 10 participants. Seven participants showed transfer of newly acquired responses from A to B and C stimuli, indicating the formation of two 3-member functional classes. Nine participants demonstrated transfer to D stimuli, suggesting robust generalization. Approximately half of the participants showed responding consistent with equivalence, as tested using a GNG-compound procedure. These findings replicate and extend previous evidence that simple successive discrimination training can produce both functional and equivalence classes and supports the notion that reinforcement contingencies may be sufficient to generate relational responding among stimuli sharing common functional properties.
