| Abstract (English): | The article addresses custom connectors and their development through structured design-in processes that lead from the initial idea through simulation and prototyping to series production. Such tailored solutions are necessary when standard components cannot meet technical requirements such as high current-carrying capacity, EMC robustness, or special sealing demands. The design-in process comprises three phases: concept creation, feasibility assessment, and product development up to series approval, with technical, economic, and logistical aspects closely intertwined. An example from the railway industry demonstrates how, through close collaboration and simulations, a reliable connector for demanding installation situations was quickly realized. Sustainability, functional integration, and manufacturability play an important role in reducing costs, increasing reliability, and shortening time-to-market. [Extracted from the article] |
