| Περίληψη: | Aligning ecological compensation with the spatial flow of water services is key to enhancing allocation efficiency and securing regional water resilience. Based on a “supply-flow-demand” framework, this study integrates the InVEST model, a SPANs-based D8 algorithm, and market valuation method to comprehensively assess these dynamics in the Hanjiang River Basin. Results showed that: (1) Although the supply-demand ratio remained in surplus, it declined sharply from 0.089 to 0.024, reflecting contracting supply against rising demand. (2) Water yield services were transported from the west toward the southeast along riverine networks. The share of effective service areas fell from 98.44% to 91.70%, while the number of county-scale flow pathways declined from 379 to 375. These trends collectively indicate weakened radiating capacity of water yield services within the basin. (3) The basin’s aggregate water ecological compensation value plunged by 87.1%, falling from 1.949 billion CNY to 252 million CNY. Net compensation values also diminished as terrain elevation increased. The reduction in compensation value primarily stemmed from shrinking service surpluses and contracted flow coverage. Collectively, the shrinking water yield surplus constrains the spatial transmission scope of water services, and both surplus reduction and flow attenuation synergistically reduce the total pool of water ecological compensation. This study provides theoretical and practical references for water resource allocation and water security guarantee in the Hanjiang River Basin, as well as establishing a methodological foundation for designing cross-county water ecological compensation schemes in analogous watersheds worldwide.
