Περίληψη: The study identifies the critical success factors (CSFs) for conducting Kaizen events (KEs) in hospitals and the strengths and interrelationships between these success factors. In addition, key insights about research maturity on hospital KEs are discussed. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted using four platforms (ProQuest, Web of Science, Engineering Village, and Scopus). Using bibliometric analyses and thematic analyses, findings were summarized based on author, publication, and content characteristics. A meta-synthesis evaluation was also applied to evaluate success factor significance. Forty-eight papers identified a total of 54 unique success factors for KEs in hospitals. The most commonly-mentioned success factors occur in three predominant success factor categories (Team Design, Organization, and KE Process). Future studies can include additional databases to retrieve other applicable publications for a more complete assessment and synthesis. Furthermore, this work involved an intensive literature review that synthesized a comprehensive list of success factors. Future empirical studies on these factors can provide additional evidence to engineering managers in hospital settings about the importance of these factors for KE interventions.
