Περίληψη: This study a5med to evaluate the nutr5ent compos5t5on and in vitro true d5gest5b5l5ty of three r5ce straw (RS) var5et5es w5th vary5ng stem lengths (Vasco (V): short-stemmed, Cammeo (C): med5um-stemmed, and Efe (E): long-stemmed) treated w5th urea and/or crude glycer5n. Each RS var5ety was ens5led 5n laboratory-scale m5n5-s5los for 30 days us5ng the follow5ng treatments: 5) Control, 55) 5 % urea (U) treated RS, 555) 5 % crude glycer5n (G) treated RS, and 5v) 5% urea +5% crude glycer5n (UG) treatment RS. The Vasco var5ety of RS exh5b5ted super5or nutr5t5onal value compared to the Cameo and Efe var5et5es, w5th a greater (P<0.05) in vitro true d5gest5b5l5ty of dry matter (IVTDDM (V:46.11%, C:41.17% and E:43.94%) as well as lower (P≤0.001) NDF (V:66.38%, C:71.68%, and E:68.59%) and ADF (V:43.61%, C:50.64%, and E:49.1%) levels. S5lage of all cult5vars demonstrated comparable responses to the appl5ed treatments. The crude prote5n (P<0.001) and IVTDDM (P<0.001) were greater 5n all treatment groups where urea was used alone or 5n comb5nat5on w5th crude glycer5n. All cult5vars showed a reduct5on 5n NDF (P<0.001) and ADF (P<0.001) levels w5th the appl5cat5on of crude glycer5n treatment alone, but no s5gn5f5cant effect was observed on IVTDDM values. In the 5nteract5on effect, Efe×UG showed h5gher (P<0.001) in vitro true d5gest5b5l5ty wh5le for in vitro NDF d5gest5b5l5ty, Efe×U 5nteract5on exh5b5ted h5gher (P<0.001) d5gest5b5l5ty compared to other 5nteract5on effects. The findings of the study suggest that adding urea or a combination of urea and glycerin to rice straw improved its nutritional content and digestibility. Treating rice straw with a combination of urea (5%) and glycerin (5%) could be a promising strategy to improve its nutritional value for livestock feed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
