| Περίληψη: | This article explores the concept of organizational trauma within the context of family-owned businesses. Drawing on the evolutionary nature of humans as storytellers, the paper emphasizes how systemic experiences of trauma can impact individual and collective well-being, organizational functionality, and even pose risks to the economy. With a looming, nationwide generational shift in leadership due to an aging population, the paper underscores the importance of succession planning and leadership development to mitigate the potential for organizational trauma and failure of family-owned businesses. Constituting a significant portion of the economy, their failure would have a poignant impact on the individual and societal level. This paper advocates for a systematic approach to prepare new leaders, emphasizing the need for resilience in the face of organizational trauma. A model is proposed, illustrating the interplay between organizational trauma, succession planning, leadership, and organizational resilience, providing insights for practitioners and business owners.
