In this article, the physics of the climate system is introduced, with the aim of presenting a thorough explanation of past, present and future climate change. Essential definitions in climate science are firstly provided. The basics of Earth's global energy budget are introduced, and the main controllers of global climatic conditions are described, to present climate change in terms of physical processes. Finally, the expected evolution of climate in the 21st century, according to different future emission scenarios, is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
