Περίληψη: Blast-induced rock fracture is a critical challenge in mining, geotechnical, and defense engineering, involving complex dynamic processes such as high-strain-rate deformation, fragmentation, and multi-material interaction. This paper presents a novel computational framework based on a discontinuous Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) approach to simulate crack propagation and damage in rock under blast loading. The framework integrates the Grady–Kipp model for tensile damage and the Drucker–Prager criterion for shear failure. Fracture is explicitly modeled using a pseudo-spring crack treatment, while a robust multi-material contact algorithm handles interfacial forces under compression. The implementation is rigorously validated through four benchmark cases: three-dimensional crack branching, a uniaxial compression test, frictional block-sliding, and unconfined compression of cylindrical specimens. The framework is further applied to simulate explosive detonation in a cylindrical rock sample, blast damage near empty holes, and rock blasting with multiple boreholes. These simulations help to understand damage mechanisms under varied initial conditions. The predicted damage patterns and fragmentation results show strong agreement with available experimental data, demonstrating the method’s capability to accurately capture dynamic fracture and complex blast-induced failure in rock.
