Περίληψη: To this day, the main sources of energy in the world are nonrenewable and produce carbon emissions, which contribute to increasing global warming. Distributed energy resources (DER) are considered an effective solution to this challenge, since they generate clean and sustainable energy. In this paper, we propose a new concept of energy generation, called a dual traffic driven generator (DTDG), which generates alternative and direct current (AC and DC) simultaneously by converting the mechanical and wind energy generated from the traffic into electrical energy. The implementation of DTDG as a source of energy is a unique and more efficient approach compared to conventional approaches, since it is coupled to roads and traffic and close to energy users, which mitigates overall power losses. DTDG mainly driven by a centrifugal force from the friction of the tires of the passing traffic with a shaft installed on the asphalt. DTDG is also equipped with vertically installed WT generators on each side of the road to convert the wind energy generated by the traffic to DC. The feasibility of the design is studied and a primary design of the DTDG is proposed. The results show that DTDG can produce up to 65 Joules (1.17 Wh) per passing vehicle, which represents approximately $3853.98–7707.96 annual energy savings and 319,550 kg of CO2 reduction per device. Then we provide a simulation and optimization analysis. The optimization results show that the energy output has increased by an average of 200% at various speeds of the vehicles compared to that of the primary design. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
