Abstract (English): Buyao crown ornaments, representative accessories of the Murong Xianbei tribe during the Eastern Jin and Sixteen Kingdoms period, are frequently documented in official histories, archaeological reports, and unearthed artifacts. They served as an important material carrier for status identification and ceremonial occasions. Due to their diverse forms and complex evolutionary trajectory, scholarly understanding of their origin, development, and cultural connotations has long been divided. Clarifying their developmental lineage, design characteristics, and cultural interaction context can provide crucial material evidence for comprehending the intertwined integration of northern nomadic cultures with Central Plains agrarian civilization, and even Eastern and Western cultures, Grounded in design theory and cultural gene theory, this study employs a method of mutual corroboration among physical objects, images, and historical texts to investigate their evolutionary trajectory. This trajectory follows a "Jijia (hairpin) Buyao (step-swaying ornament) Buyao crown ornaments" progression, unfolding along a "West Asia Central Asia Northern Grasslands, Western Liaoning-Central Plains interaction East Asia" pathway. This demonstrates a dynamic process of coexistence between inclusiveness and creativity within cross-regional civilizational interactions. The study systematically explores the design characterization and cultural gene fusion mechanisms of Buyao crown ornaments through six dimensions: material, craftsmanship, form and decoration, function, meaning, and manufacturing system. Material selection reflects social status and symbolic significance; craftsmanship techniques reveal their manufacturing origins; typological analysis categorizes their forms into four types, with decorations often derived from natural phenomena; functional analysis explores wearing methods and usage scenarios; interpretation of meaning reveals their cosmological views and aesthetic systems; and research into the manufacturing system infers their production organization and ritual norms. Through the multi-dimensional analysis, the mechanisms of cultural gene fusion and evolution are elucidated. This study helps revise existing understandings that Buyao crown ornaments are viewed as a product of a single culture, deepens the comprehension of northern nomadic crown structures, and provides reliable reference for exploring the evolutionary paths of crown forms and the integration of diverse ethnic cultures. It simultaneously offers academic support for deepening the understanding of the "diversity within unity" historical process of Chinese civilization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
