The geometric process is often used in questions of reliability and scheduling. However, due to its disadvantages, such as the lack of the expected number of events at a random time when the process decreases, it is not always the best solution. The alpha series process has been proposed as an alternative and solves this problem when certain criteria are met. In this study, the first arrival time follows the Maxwell distribution, and our main focus is on the alpha series process. We propose an artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) for estimating the parameters of the alpha series process and evaluate how well it performs compared to the maximum likelihood method and the modified moment estimator. A simulation was also performed to determine the most efficient estimation method. Furthermore, we apply our method to real data showing the periods between recurring outages at the to demonstrate its practical utility. Our results demonstrate the potency of the suggested approach for calculating occurrence rates in the alpha-series process with practical application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
