| Abstract (English): | Manṭūq (explicit meaning) and Mafhūm (implicit meaning) are two categories of textual indication, each being a signified (madlūl), not the indication itself. This article investigates the true nature of Mafhūm according to Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Sharīf al-Tilimsānī, outlining its conditions, divisions, types, and terminologies, as well as the validity of reasoning with it. Furthermore, the study compares his perspective with the approaches of other uṣūlī schools and with modern linguistic research, employing an inductive–analytical methodology supported by examples from subsidiary rulings (furūʿ) that arose due to differences in principles and legal foundations.
