Abstract: With the rise of cloud computing and social networks, images, as a crucial representation of the multimedia big data era, hold significant value that cannot be overlooked. Among them, JPEG-format images play a vital role in global image transmission and storage. To address security vulnerabilities and internet threats, academia and industry have proposed various security protection schemes for JPEG images. Secret Image Sharing (SIS) is a key image protection technology with loss-tolerant characteristics, and due to its high security and ability to avoid excessive concentration of authority, it has become a research hotspot in the field of modern data sharing. Traditional JPEG encryption and compression methods rely on keys–once the key is lost, the content of the original image cannot be guaranteed. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel secret JPEG image sharing scheme. By introducing a Galois field-based Shamir secret sharing method during the Huffman coding step of JPEG compression, the scheme ensures standard JPEG compression while resolving the issue of image irrecoverability due to key loss. Furthermore, we have improved the original scheme, with the encrypted ciphertext images offering better visual security compared to the previous version. Experimental results demonstrate that our scheme fully complies with format requirements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
