Practical significance. The results of the study may have practical application in the activities of analytical services when drawing up a program for the development of the Mari El Republic transport industry and the spheres of the regional economic complex served by the transport sector enterprises, транспортная отрасль, for most municipal district clusters, freight transport, грузовой транспорт, regardless of the territory specialization, as well as the number of road traffic accidents. Conclusion. The results of the study showed that a significant contribution to the development of the economy of the Mari El Republic is made by the passenger turnover of the transport industry of the Volzhsky, Mari-Tureksky, regression, classification groups, the study of which involves the application of an integrated approach that takes into account the functioning of indivi­dual territorial units. Conducting a general analysis of the regional economy sectors will not be able to identify all existing potential opportunities for the development of individual territories. The preliminary classification of regions within the Republic of Mari El allows for an objective assessment of their potential in the general trend of economic growth in the region, transport industry, to determine their absolute and relative impact on passenger and cargo turnover volumes.
